Born 11/7/1959 in the same hospital in Perth, Amboy New Jersey as Dave and Jon were to be born in.

 

His parents were Adam and Joan Sambora of Polish and Italian descent respectively. Richie was to be their only child.

 

Richie grew up in Woodbridge New Jersy

 

He is colour blind and wears contact lenses

 

He is 6ft 1 inch tall and has brown eyes.

 

Richie got his first guitar at the age of 12. he taught himself to play watching his heroes Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page for inspiration.

 

His main musical influences are John Lennon,  Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix.  Bob Dylan and  Elton John (or more accurately Bernie Taupin) have also influenced his song writing.

 

Richie can also play the accordion, piano, saxaphone and drums. And anything with a rusty piece of wire attached declared Jon after TLFR.

 

Richie allegedly lost his virgnity at 15 years 6 months on the back seat of a car outside his girl friends house . No I don't know the make of the car.

 

Richie went to Kean University majoring in Psychology with Music as his second subject. He left Uni to concentrate on his musical career. In July 2004 he returned to receive an honoury degree. Well done Dr. Sambora.

 

He has been arrested twice: drunk and disorderly at 17 on graduation day, I believe he drove a JCB over the football pitch !!! and possessing a joint at age19. I can confirm that the jacket I bought off his brother-in-law smelt of cannabis and the girl who posted it to me said she had to take a joint out of the pocket in case customs checked !!!??

 

Richie loves to watch any Sport, particularly American Football and basketball. And he loves golf but I don't know what his handicap is. (I know his only handicap is how gorgeous he is..)

 

He went out with Cher on and off for 4 years. It was serious but more on her part than his.

 

In July 1994 the love of his life went to watch Bon Jovi play and she thought the lead guitarist was cute...

 

On December 15th 1994 in New Jersey Richie married the lovely Heather Locklear. 2 days later he flew her to Paris and married her again in the beautiful American catholic cathedral. He had proposed in the bathroom. Never the conventional for Richie. 

 

on October 4th 1997 after about 35hours in labour Heather gave birth by cesaerian section to a beautiful baby girl : Ava Elizabeth Sambora. She weighed 6Lbs 6ozs was 19inches long and recognised Richie's voice immediately due to all the serenading he had done in the previous 9 months

 

Richie says Ava has his sense of humour.. I just hope she never wears trousers like her dad did to London July 2003 joke or no joke....

 

Richie has 4 tattoos...a guitar with wings and the phrase "Who Dares Wins" on his right arm, a cross with roses wrapped around it and the words "God" and "Faith" above and below it on his left arm, a tiny black star on his right hand and most recently a tattoo of his wife's name, "Heather Dean" above the guitar tattoo on his right arm (Heather has "Richie" tattooed on her lower stomach.)

 

On the 2nd February 2006 Heather filed for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable  differences. She asked for joint custody of Ava, but with physical custody herself with visitation rights to Richie. 

 

The divorce came through in April 2007.

 

Unfortunately Richie's father died the same month.

 

After a year long relationship with Denise Richards Richie is now single and available.

 

Both Richie and Heather have had their tattoos altered.
